Luke Atkins

Film, Television, and Music Critic

About

Hi! I’m Luke. The more I know, the more I know how little I know. And in a universe with trillions of galaxies, I’m honored to be here with you now. I am a writer. I am a junior in college—studying government and history at Harvard. I am a political pundit (feel free to check out my new political show). I am a tutor. I am a soccer player, coach, and personal trainer. I am obsessed with geography and history. I am an art snob. I love theoretical physics. And I have a vast array of other interests, from Rocket League to mental health advocacy to extremely obscure topics like Japanese Maglev trains and futuristic, eco-friendly skyscrapers and the theoretical prospect of developing nuclear fusion energy power plants. Pretty weird, right?

Alas, there are very few things I’m sure of in life. I don’t know why we’re here or why I maintain a solipsistic fixation on my arbitrarily constructed reality. I certainly don’t know what I want to “do”—whether I end up as an author, professor, political scientist, politician, full-time film and music critic, etc. What I do know: I love the arts. It wasn’t until my life reached its lows that I saw how crucial they are to me, but now I know. Anyway, I cover both contemporary works and classics. I try to write brief reviews (ranging from one giant paragraph to two or three small ones), so you’ll know that I’m reviewing something special when you see a long post. Also, my music posts can cover anything from albums to songs. Hope that this site provides a nice platform for us to share our interests, ideas, and experiences!

        1. Oh just saw this other comment. Thanks so much! I will always strive to fight for equality and minority rights, especially with trans rights (speaking of your username). Just want a world where everyone can be themselves, express themselves, and love themselves—as well as the people they love—without the ideological intervention and authoritarianism of random strangers and/or the government. The number of trans people who are murdered or end up committing suicide is a stat that really opened my eyes. I can no longer afford to ignore LGBTQ rights within the political arena!

        1. Yes! I used to blog about a large variety of topics (now I just do movies & music to save time while I finish school) and am working on my first novel. I also write some poetry. How about you?

        2. Still only 23 years old though and busy with schoolwork, so I haven’t really accomplished any material goals in the writing world outside from amassing views on WordPress. Cheers to growth!
